Tri-Polar Album Cover

This trio which is fronted by Shimon Moore (vocals/guitar), Emma Anzai (bass), and Mark Goodwin (drums) released their album Tri-Polar on July 14, 2009. The 13 track album encompasses a lighter influence than what the trio has previously released, but still harbors their metal flare.

“War” opens the album with an electronic vibe, fierce drum blasts and an overflow of energetic metal promise. While the rest of the album remains heavy hitting, “War” retains the most metal influence.

“I Hate you,” “Rip Tide,” and “You're Going Down” continue to disperse the energy that “War” opened with. The drum beats maintain a brutal vibe and the guitar riffs shred through the tracks like train blasting through a brick wall. Moore's vocals are what tone down the otherwise heavy nature of the music, but add a tasteful element.

Anzai's bass lines are incredibly showcased on tracks “Should've Known Better,” “Master of the Universe,” and “War.” Her slap bass rips through speakers and begs for authority.

While Sick Puppies have slowly emerged over the past year, one might consider them rock veterans. With beginnings in 1997, this trio has consistently created brutal tracks that have won them numerous Australian awards including “Best Live Performance” by the Australian Live Music Awards and was labeled “the most dynamic new band in the country” by the Australian Rolling Stone.
